Creation Care Event
October 28th, 2017
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. - James 2:8
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it - Psalm 24:1
As Christians we are called to love our neighbors and be good stewards of all that God has given us. The Creation Care Event gives us the opportunity to do both!
Join us on Saturday, Oct. 28th as we serve our community by picking up litter around businesses in Seymour. We will leave the church at 9:00am and pick up litter until around 12:00pm. We are doing this as a service to our community and neighbors to show them how much Seymour Heights loves and cares about them.
To participate in this event, you must be at least high school age. Rubber gloves, trash bags and reflective safety vests will be provided. If you would like additional information, please contact Jarrod Hess at:
Nashville Weekend Mission Trip
November 17th - November 19th, 2017
November 17 - 19 we are going to partner with a mission organization called SLAM (Students Living a Mission). SLAM mobilizes students ages 12 - 25 to live a mission in imitation of Jesus Christ by serving the poor and underprivileged through community service. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a variety of cultures, be the hands and feet of Christ, and do so only traveling a couple of hours away. Even though this is a youth trip, we welcome any adults that would like to participate as well. The cost for the weekend is $150.
Men's Hike in the Smokies
November 18th, 2017
Men, join us as we hike the Middle Prong Trail in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. With a reputation as being the best waterfall hike in the Smokies, this 8 mile trail follows along an old railway bed. We will hike to Indian Flat Falls where we will take a lunch break before heading back down the trail.
For this hike, you will need to pack water, snacks and a lunch. It is also important to wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions and proper footwear. We will depart from the church in the bus at 9:00am and return around 4:00pm. This event is open to junior high age boys on up. Parents and hikers can use the link below to discover more about the trail and help them determine the fitness level needed to complete the hike.
